Earth_Kitchen.jpgCome check out Linda Joy's recipe for "Cheesy Sausage Balls." The two major ingredients will be Daiya cheese and Tofuky sausage.  According to Linda, "everybody usually loves them at first bite and they are pretty foolproof."  She will hand out free samples of the finished product.

ABOUT LINDA:  Rev. Linda Joy Lewis M.A.Ed committed to a total vegan diet in 1998, after being a vegetarian and near-vegan since 1968. She is an active volunteer with local vegan events in and near Gainesville, Florida, where she has lived for twenty years. These events have included educational lectures, food linda_joy_t.jpgpreparation demos such as seitan and kombucha-making workshops, and offering free samples of her food and recipes at local food stores.

Linda earned a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Florida, in 1994, and was ordained an interfaith ADL minister in 2009. Much of her ministry is focused on furthering awareness of “ahimsa”, or compassion for all life, including our animal friends.

In the nineteen seventies she and her husband operated a vegetarian boarding house near the University of Hawaii, and were active members of the Honolulu food co-op, Kokua Country Foods. In the 1990’s, they expanded that work in the form of a music retreat (World Harmony Project) in Gainesville, Florida.

Linda expresses her philosophy with the simple words: “Peace, Love and Tofu”!

Adam.jpgAdam A. Graham – vegan raw food author, chef and educator

In February of 2005, while doing a cleanse and fast in Thailand, Adam Graham had his first Live Food Experience. At the time he did not know the immediate and lasting effects it would have on his life. Upon introduction to the Live Food Lifestyle Adam progressed down the path of Live Foods, with reluctance at first but eventually embracing it and incorporating the Live Food Lifestyle into all aspects of his life. At this time in his life he was living in Taipei, Taiwan and working as an English teacher. It was while living on the beautiful island of Formosa (aka: Taiwan) that he was able to explore the many aspects of live foods without the influence of friends, family and the ever present processed media. Over the next 19 months Adam experimented with sprouting, nut and seed milks, fermenting, dehydrating and all the new and exciting aspects of the Live Food Lifestyle. Eventually he even taught a series of live food classes to Taipei locals that were interested in this new and exciting way to prepare food. This switch from English teacher to Live Foods teacher was a brief glimpse of what the future had in store.

•    January 2009 manifested the beginning of the next phase of this vision: The Live Food Experience

The Live Food Experience was created in the spirit of love and service to humanity and the planet. It is Adam’s belief that by reestablishing our individual internal balance that this will have a positive effect on the external world. The Live Food Experience achieves this goal by providing instruction and support for individuals and groups wishing to expand their understanding of the Live Food Lifestyle and its limitless benefits.  Live Foods Change Lives!

•    In April of 2010 Adam embarked on a 6 week European tour in which he taught classes and workshops in Spain, France, Ireland, Italy and Belgium.
•    Adam has also been a demo chef at Raw Spirit 2009, 2010; Northeast Florida VegFest 2010, 2011; and The New England Healer’s Symposium 2009.

July 2011 brought about the release of Adam Graham’s The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Raw Food Detox which added a second raw food book to the Penguin Publishing Complete Idiot’s Guide series. Since its release Adam has been traveling, teaching and promoting his book. He also began working as the seasonal program director for Camp Rawnora, a raw vegan wellness center in Watervliet, Michigan. Camp Rawnora hosts health

Loving Hut.jpgDave Tran from Loving Hut will host a Food Demo at 4pm in Riverside Park.  Come check out his great recipe for Homemade Seitan!

Homemade Seitan - Super Source of Protein and Saute Lemongrass Seitan Dish

Seitan is also called "wheat meat" and surprisingly similar to the look and texture of meat when cooked, making it a popular meat substitute. Seitan is high in protein, making it a popular protein source for vegetarians/vegans.

The demo a simple and creative way to make seitan at home and use it to make the Saute Lemongrass Seitan dish. Sample foods will be served at the end of the class.
