As “Lead Mare” of CJ Acres Animal Rescue Farm, Lee Sackett works to reduce animal suffering by managing the non-profit organization’s efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and reintroduce in-need farm animals, while promoting compassionate consumption and responsible animal stewardship. He co-founded the charity with his wife, Jennifer, in 1997 and has grown the animal rescue farm to be one of the top sanctuaries for abused, abandoned, and neglected farmed animals in the United States.“I guess I can blame this on my mom, who never let me have a dog growing up”, Lee jokes. “Though, she did say I could have as many animals as I wanted when I had my own place.” For over 27 years, Lee has reached out to help four-hoofed and two-winged domesticated animals throughout the United States. Currently, CJ Acres Animal Rescue Farm has nearly 100 residents, with animals coming as far North as Canada and as far West as Arizona.
When he's not directly assisting animals, Lee also spends quite a bit of time “retraining” humans on topics including compassionate consumption, creature stewardship, and animal advocacy. This educational outreach includes leading on-property public tours, overseeing volunteer activities, partnering with corporations, and speaking at local/regional meetings and events.
In addition to guiding all activities of CJ Acres Animal Rescue Farm, Lee has over 25 years of advertising experience and is “Chief Problem Solver” at one of the top 25 advertising agencies in Jacksonville, Carpe DM, a full-service marketing firm he founded 14 years ago.
In his speech, “7½ Things Rescued Animals Want Me To Tell Ewe”, Lee will share a few of lessons learned by spending time with hundreds of amazing animals. In addition to dispelling myths and sharing interesting facts, attendees will receive “language lessons” in turkey, goat, pig and rooster. Join us for this special presentation designed to help us better understand the extraordinary creatures we share the planet with.
